It’s interesting how it’s Damon first thought to run to Elena, but Stefan’s first thought to run to Klaus. I’m not even saying it for shipper reasons or to criticize Stefan; it’s just interesting. Stefan is focused on the task. He knows that destroying Klaus is his goal, and he can structure everything in his head around this goal. Stefan’s headspace is an elaborate structure. Damon, on the other hand, is way more chaotic and acts on instinct, quickly reacts to what he sees. I guess this is the main difference between the Salvatores: Stefan is better at structuring, explaining and building theories; Damon is better at adjusting and reacting spontaneously. Stefan can come up with a better plan, but when something unexpected happens, he often loses control. Damon’s plans tend to be less than air-tight, but he always assumes something will surprise him, so when it does, he quickly gets his shit together and reacts. Stefan is better at plotting, Damon at damage control.
They are endgame, even if she doesn’t join the spin-off as a regular.
